Morningside Heights

Nearby Columbia University, Morningside Heights has been undergoing revitalization in the past decade. This now may be the place to rent or own a residence as the neighborhood has much to offer. The location amongst the only hills in the city is a welcome change of pace for many and it is situated between two parks; Morningside and Riverside parks which make recreation and retreat from the buzz of city life easy. The sheer presence of Columbia University and Barnard College make one feel more cerebral, but also give the neighborhood a bit of a college town feel. Businesses have geared much of their business toward students and faculty of the colleges, which means the best shopping in Morningside Heights, is near Columbia University.

The city’s only gothic cathedral is located in Morningside Heights, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and Riverside Church, which boasts some of the best views of the city, is also in Morningside Heights.

Rental prices in this quiet area are generally less than in other areas of the city, but the quick and steady gentrification of this area mean that they won’t last for long.
